What is provided?
Maximum 6 people
The kitchen is very well-equipped with plenty of glasses, crockery, roasting tins etc and all the utensils you require, including scales, a hand-held electric mixer and picnic baskets.
A ‘first night’ pack is provided which includes washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and a basket of logs for the log burner. You can buy more logs at the local shop, five minutes’ walk away.
Linen and bathroom towels are provided.
There are cycle racks at the rear of the property to secure your bikes.
Are dogs welcome?
Absolutely, dogs are very welcome – they are part of the family and it’s their holiday too! Plus there’s a reason why Ty Cerrig is often referred to as the most dog friendly place guests have ever stayed at.
Please bring your own pet bed. There are multiple dog bowls, dog towels and lots of dog throws. There is also a warm water dog wash station.
If you wish your dog to sleep on your bed, please bring your own bed linen as dog hair gets everywhere and not everyone loves dogs.
Anglesey is extremely dog friendly and so it’s unlikely that you’ll want to leave your pooch at home. However, if this is the case, my guide book has a list of pet services on the island who will be able to help. I ask that dogs aren’t left unattended as they’re in an unfamiliar environment and I want to avoid them being scared or stressed.
There is a large, enclosed dog-friendly garden and patio, the majority of which is over 6’ and the lowest point being just under 5’. Dog-friendly beaches are within five miles, there are country parks approximately seven miles away and there are lots of marked country trails right on the doorstep. There are also several private dog fields for hire within a short drive.
What is the breakage deposit?
The breakage deposit is a cautionary deposit protecting against any accidental damage, breakages, losses or additional cleaning following your stay. I ask if there is any damage during your stay (and I know accidents do happen), you notify me at the time. It is rare that I have needed to retain part (or all) of this deposit and I will always try to resolve issues without needing to retain the deposit.
You will receive an email outlining departure guidance 24-hours before you are due to leave. This will include a reminder to let me know your bank details so that I can return the deposit by BACS transfer.
Are there local taxis available?
Yes, there are local taxis to take you into Rhosneigr, Aberffraw and surrounding villages. I recommend booking in advance.
Is the cottage suitable for wheelchairs?
Unfortunately, because the original cottage is approximately 200 years old, it is unsuitable for wheelchair users.
However, the bathroom, ensuite and utility room taps are dementia friendly. The shower cubicles are also non-slip and low profile.
Do you support charity?
Yes.
I am a partner of A Bit of a Break, offering free holidays to people living with a terminal illness and have hosted two families over the past couple of years.
When dogs stay at Ty Cerrig, I donate the fee to two animal charities, one of which is local. I also make annual donations to Mirili Môn, who do amazing work supporting people with dementia locally, as well as to the children’s hospices Tŷ Gobaith and Hope House in North Wales.
Ty Cerrig has also sponsored a loo via a Toilet Twinning charity, helping to fund a project in an overseas community that helps families to build their own basic toilet, access clean water and learn about hygiene- a lifesaving combination.
